The above shows different configurations of jet. Each of the three tech levels are made up of numerous separate elements (body, engine, wings, tails and moving parts).
The texture has altered slightly from the original version which used in-game procedural shaders. We used one single bump/normal/spec texture for each tech level of plane (which was then quite painfully fit to each), but each plane had it's own detail map, used to apply to engines, etc.

The jet was based on 1970's jets - a further advancement of aerodynamics and understanding of wing configurations. The study of jets from this era were from popular and more obscure manufacturers.
